2018 Spring Trends

Transitioning from one season to another means an up to date wardrobe… Hello Spring! When I was forecasting for new spring fashion, I found inevitable finds from the street to fashion week. Some emerging from the past with a new flare and others are styles that are making an appearance for the first time around. I’ve highlighted my top picks for spring trends that are embedded in my head of favourites!

Californian
For this spring season, designers were clearly inspired by the beach life. Myself being a California native, I instantly fell in love with the new cutting-edge tie-dye attire. The carefree style and the tie-dye design bring forth a California vibes that went well noticed on a ton of the spring runways. This Altuzarra Dress makes the tie-dye trend fashion-forward and approachable… in this sense we aren’t talking lava lamps and flower patches. You can create infinite options with dyed prints and colours that will instantly turn your look into a Californian. Pair any of these with some classically cool RayBan sunglasses, they just look so good!

Off the Shoulder
Once upon a time, off the shoulder dresses and tops reminded us of the 70’s hippie era. Feel free to stock up on off the shoulder anything because it seems like it is here to stay till the end of summer! This maroon maxi dress from Nasty Gal has me wanting to fill my closet with nothing but bare shoulder styles. I love the softness it gives off by baring just a little bit of skin. This trend is also just in time for festival season!

Fringe
Remember when everything we saw was all about fringe? Well… it’s back in action! Not overdoing it but just that little dose of fringe is what a Fashionista needs in her spring wardrobe- two thumbs up for me! We Wore What founder Danielle Berstein took a fresh approach on fringe with this skirt by Cris Barros.  A plain tee from Top Shop and open toe flats from Joie, this look shouts casual chic in all the right ways.

Slip On
You might want to look into your pyjama drawers for this one- a whole new level of style! Lace, scalloped details, and thin fabrics to layers, the slip dress is taking things by storm this spring. Model Chanel Iman, rocks a green Alexander Wang slip satin dress with caged black heels and in my opinion, it is stunning! It may be out of the ordinary but the way a dress can be so simple hanging on a hanger then transform into a chic getup when wearing makes this my favourite trend thus far for the season. You can practically sleep in your clothes!

Spring fashion trends always evolve and have us stocking our closets with new finds. I love how I’ve seen so many diverse and universal styles. It goes to show that fashion is made for everyone and of course for every season. Perhaps you’ll be wearing your silk nighty out and about with heels or a tie-dye smock and Birkenstocks… these trends are ready to take on the bloom of spring!
